  • About the Role

    Would you like to join a UK top 100 law firm based in Bath? We are looking for a telephonist to provide switchboard assistance over the telephone between clients and the firm, offering a consistently professional impression at all times. This is an important role as the telephonist would be the ambassador of Royds Withy King when clients are calling the firm.


    Ideally you will have previous switchboard experience and will enjoy client contact over the telephone. With strong communication skills, you will have an excellent telephone manner, sound customer services skills and have the ability to remain calm and professional at all times. Initiative will be needed in this role and you must be able to ‘think on your feet’.


    The role will involve working 37.5 hours a week in a shift pattern between the office hours of 8am-6pm.


    Shifts as follows: 8.00am to 4.00pm, 9.00am to 5.00pm and 10.00am to 6.00pm.


    Key responsibilities

    • To be an ambassador for the Firm & promote a consistent, professional image to all
    • To answer telephone calls promptly & efficiently via the internal switchboard & transferring calls to the relevant member of staff
    • When appropriate, taking clear and concise messages and passing on to the relevant person in a timely and effective manner
    • To deal with all telephone calls with tact and discretion at all times
    • Attend departmental and other meetings as and when required
    • Any other reasonable duties as requested by the Client Contact Manager
    • You may be on occasion asked to cover reception

    About You

    Skills and Experience needed:



    GCSEs or equivalent



    Previous experience of working on an internal switchboard

    Customer services experience (would be an advantage)

    Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing demands and juggle different tasks

    Enthusiastic ‘can do’ approach to work

    IT skills:

    Word, Excel & Outlook

    Computer literate with the ability to use various systems to keep records
