  • About the Role

    Royds Withy King is about to embark on an extensive IT programme of works to upgrade the application and platform architecture that will support its on-going growth and development. We are seeking an IT Applications & Development Manager to play a pivotal role in delivering this programme as well as overseeing a team of 4 Developers.

     

    Reporting to the Director of IT, the IT Applications & Development Manager is a key part of the IT Management team and is responsible for the leading the development and maintenance of the Royds Withy King’s application, systems, integrations and data solutions in line with business and client requirements.

     

    You will act as the subject matter expert for the IT Applications and Development function, overseeing and leading a team of 4 IT Applications Developers and providing advice and direction to all levels of personnel within the firm. You will primarily focus on two core areas:


    Strategy, Governance and Process: the ownership, implementation and development of robust and applicable development standards, change and demand management processes and technical architecture roadmap.
    Technical Management: the implementation of upgrades and new systems; and the maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation, automation and improvement of existing systems.

     

    Duties will include:

     

    • Provide support and mentoring to the IT Applications Development team, including talent, knowledge sharing (including Key Man Risk areas) and succession planning
    • Work with the Head of IT Innovation and Solutions to research, recommend new technologies and services, including Business Case and Proof of Concept
    • Assist in the scoping and selection of new technologies, technical services and contract renewals
    • Develop, own and deliver the IT Applications, Data and Integrations roadmap for the firm
    • Manage the development and delivery of new and existing technology solutions
    • Ensure that application, data and integrations are solutions are fit-for-purpose and aligned with development/architectural principles, standards and roadmaps.
    • Own and develop the Software Development Lifecycle for the firm, including coding and development standards, quality assurance and Information Security considerations
    • Own and develop the IT Development Demand Management / Impact Assessment processes
    • Assist with the gathering and definition of user requirements where required
    • Develop and maintain effective ways of working throughout the department and organisation including process automation and simplification
    • Lead the IT development phase of projects and support the transition of solutions through to acceptance in BAU

     

     

    About You

    Knowledge & Experience:

    • Previous experience working in technical development or delivery role- Essential
    • IT related Degree or equivalent- Desirable
    • Professional certifications, past or present- Desirable
    • Experience of the definition, development and delivery of technical architecture mapping and roadmaps- Essential
    • Experience of managing and developing a team- Desirable
    • Understanding of Agile, Scrum and Waterfall development/delivery methodologies- Essential
    • Knowledge of development principles and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, security and operations-Essential

    Skills:

    • Microsoft Office – particularly PowerPoint and Visio- Desirable
    • Infrastructure knowledge- Desirable
