  • About the Role

    We have a great opportunity to join our IT Team at an exciting time when we are about to undertake an extensive programme of works to renovate, modernise and secure the infrastructure stack that will support the on-going growth and development of the firm. This is ideal development opportunity to join us as an entry level IT Infrastructure Engineer.

     

    Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, this role will be responsible for supporting the network and server infrastructure that underpins the operational IT services delivered to the firm.

     

    The post holder will primarily focus on the implementation of upgrades and new systems; and the maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation, automation and improvement of existing systems.

     

    As this is a developmental opportunity, certifications, training and coaching will be provided to improve both technical and business skills for the successful candidate.

     

    The role will be primarily Bath based, but there will be regular visits the other Royds Withy King offices, co-location facilities and supplier offices to support both business as usual and project activities due to this a driving licence and access to a car for business use is required.

     

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Support the IT Infrastructure Manager with the optimal management, development and support of the Royds Withy King technology infrastructure.
    • This includes working across the full infrastructure stack including servers, storage, networking, security and cloud.
    • Perform daily checks and event management.
    • Troubleshoot day to day infrastructure issues.
    • Monitor systems and enhance monitoring capabilities.
    • Produce and maintain documentation of systems.
    • Maintain infrastructure software.
    • Escalate incidents with service providers and vendors.
    • Manage updates across the servers and endpoints.
    • Carry out routine firmware and software updates across the infrastructure estate.
    • Assist with office moves, comms room maintenance and datacentre tasks.
    • Work with the wider IT team on projects as required.

    About You

     

    Knowledge:

    • Previous experience in an IT role is essential.
    • A basic understanding of desktop and network infrastructure is essential.
    • IT certifications in desktop or, network computing are highly desirable but not essential (for example CompTIA, Microsoft MCP, MCSA, MCSE or Cisco CCENT or CCNA).
    • A customer focused individual who wants to provide an excellent service experience.
    • IT related Degree or equivalent is desirable, but not essential.

    Skills:

    • Virtualisation, services, storage and networking (Experience with any vendor)
    • Scripting (PowerShell)
    • Cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
    • Endpoint and Mobile Device Management
    • Security (Endpoint, Network and Server)

    The successful applicant will be subject to pre-employment screening including a DBS (Criminal Background) check.
