About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Internal Auditor to join our growing Risk & Best Practice team in Bath. In this position you will carry out internal audits for the Firm in both legal and business services departments, checking the Firm's compliance with the relevant regulatory standards and performing independent file reviews contributing to the supervision required by Lexcel. In addition you will identify any corrective action required and support the Firm's commitment to continuous monitoring of its risk and compliance controls, identifying areas in need of improvement where appropriate. Responsibilities will include:


  • Carrying out file audits in accordance with the Firm's Audit Plan, including Lexcel audits, CQS file audits, thematic compliance file reviews and legal aid file reviews
  • Creating professional audit reports to enable the Head of Risk & Best Practice, COLP and COFA, as appropriate, to assess which compliance controls are strongest and which are in need of review
  • Presenting audit findings to the Risk Committee and other management executives as required
  • Working with key stakeholder across the Firm
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly reports and developing strategies to manage risk
  • Generate KPI's for compliance and reporting and management information

The role will involve travel to other offices in Wiltshire, Oxford and London.


About You

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs, A-C including English and Maths
  • Legal qualification preferred
  • Excellent report writing skills and attention to detail
  • Experience of working with law firms and Lexcel accreditation is highly desirable
  • Previous experience of file reviews is desirable
  • Previous experience of working in a legal environment is desirable
  • Experience in Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) would be useful
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to manage a busy workload
  • Focused on delivering excellent client service
